Brazilian government orders 24-hour blocks on illegal betting transactions
Brazil’s Finance Ministry issued a measure on 18 June requiring financial and payment institutions linked to illegal betting operators to share responsibility for taxes and unpaid prizes, the report says. The measure also gives those institutions 24 hours to block related transactions; ANJL and IBJR voiced support for the government’s actions.
Payment providers and institutions linked to unlicensed betting face new tax and prize liabilities and a 24-hour transaction-blocking requirement.
