Brazil’s SPA directs payment firms to block illegal betting transactions
Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) issued Ordinance 2,750 setting guidance for financial and payment institutions to block and report transactions linked to unauthorised betting operators. The IBJR welcomed the measure on 16 September and said prompt implementation would be important to its impact.
Payment providers will need to address transactions linked to unauthorised betting operators under the new guidance.
