Brazil’s SPA orders blocks on more than 60,000 illegal betting sites

Enforcement & compliance

Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA) has ordered the blocking of more than 60,000 illegal betting sites, SPA monitoring and enforcement deputy secretary Carlos Renato Resende told a public hearing on 11 August. He said monitoring began manually in January 2025 and became automated after the SPA introduced suitable technology in October 2025. Resende also said the SPA was close to signing a cooperation agreement with the Federal Police to refer criminal complaints.

Operators and regulators face continued enforcement against illegal betting sites and a planned police-cooperation process.
