Brazil’s Finance Ministry data show 105 betting firms operating without authorisation
Brazilian Finance Ministry data cited in a report show that 79 of 184 registered betting companies had authorisation to operate, leaving 105 unauthorised. The report says the market exceeded R$32 billion in turnover in 2025 and cites an estimate of R$10.8 billion in annual public revenue losses from illegal activity. It also reports that tax is due to rise from 12% to 15% by 2028.
Operators face competition from unauthorised sites as the reported tax rate is scheduled to increase.
