Brazil reports 326,000 registrations for betting self-exclusion programme

Regulation

Brazil’s Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency said 326,000 people had registered for the centralised betting self-exclusion programme. The figure was announced on 27 December, shortly after a meeting with the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting; sector representatives questioned whether all registrants were active bettors and raised concerns about how the tool was being promoted.

The reported registration count and debate over the programme’s use may inform operators’ responsible-gambling practices.
