Brazil’s federal government promoted its central self-exclusion platform for authorised betting sites during the World Cup, according to the report. Messages shared through social media and WhatsApp also pointed users to a self-assessment tool and health services for gambling problems.
The campaign directs users towards tools to restrict betting access and seek support for gambling problems.

It was reported that Procon Ceará fined MMABet more than R$850k for a self-exclusion failure. The regulator said the platform allowed a customer whose CPF was blocked to register again.
Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Bets said Ordinance SPA/MF No. 2,596/2026 governs betting-company brand exposure during the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. It permits official FIFA sponsors, commercial partners and suppliers to display brands on tournament-related assets, but bars betting offers, promotions and links directing consumers to betting platforms. Operators’ related authorisation requests may be submitted until 31 October 2026 for priority review.
Brazilian fixed-odds betting platforms recorded more than 120 million transactions during the 2026 World Cup, according to a study by identity-verification company Unico. The study found 13 million unique active bettors, with activity peaking at 1,513 requests per second during Brazil's match against Scotland on 24 June. Unico said its systems blocked 770,000 fraud attempts during the tournament.
Reportedly, Brazil’s tournament legislation provides an advertising exception for betting sponsors at the Women’s World Cup in 2027. The law passed in June 2026 permits brand exposure by companies not yet regulated in Brazil.
It was reported that Klavi’s sample showed average deposits rising from BRL188 to around BRL245 during the World Cup. The sample covered 1.2 million people and does not represent total Brazilian market activity.
