Brazil proposes tax liability for promoters and payment firms serving illegal betting
Brazil’s federal government introduced measures targeting the financial and promotional channels used by unlicensed betting operators, according to the report. Officials said promoters could be liable for taxes owed by those operators, while financial institutions could share liability if they process transactions after formal notice from the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting.
The proposed measures could expose marketing and payment businesses to tax liability for dealings with unlicensed operators.
