Brazil imposes tax liability on promoters and payment firms serving unlicensed betting operators
Brazil’s Ministry of Finance published Portaria MF 1.766/2026 on 18 June, providing for tax liability for influencers and brands promoting betting operators without authorisation. The rule also covers financial and payment institutions that continue processing transactions for unlicensed platforms after formal notice from the ministry.
The rule may expose promoters and payment providers to tax liability for supporting unlicensed betting operators.
