Brazil plans unified betting registry to monitor users across operators

Regulation

Brazil’s federal government is planning a central registry that would require betting companies to check users’ authorisation through Gov.br before opening accounts, according to a media report. The proposal would link financial activity across accounts associated with a CPF; Sportingbet’s Latin America head said the technology was feasible but raised concerns about public authorities’ ability to implement it.

Operators may need to verify customers against a federal registry and could face wider monitoring of their customers’ financial activity.
