EUIPO partially cancels Sportingbet trademark protection for betting services

Regulation

The EUIPO Cancellation Division partially invalidated Sportingbet’s European figurative trademark on 18 June 2026, according to the report. It found the name descriptive for most of the claimed betting and gambling services, and considered the logo’s styling insufficient to make it distinctive. SB Entertainment Ltd brought the cancellation action.

The decision removes trademark protection for many services at the core of Sportingbet’s betting and gaming business.

End-of-day close Entain (ENT), GBp, to 7 August 2026
