Brazil government ban halts licensed betting operations on 6 October
Brazil's federal government brought a ban on fixed-odds betting into effect on 6 October under Provisional Measure 1.394/2026, according to a report. Licensed platforms must stop accepting new bets, take their sites and apps offline, and direct users to the Brasil sem Bets portal; failure to comply may lead to administrative sanctions. The report says industry associations have challenged the measure in the Supreme Court.
Operators must stop accepting bets and manage customer balances, advertising and service withdrawal under the measure.
