Brazil finance ministry bars 27 prediction-market platforms
Brazil’s Ministry of Finance prohibited 27 organisations from operating in the country after identifying their prediction-market services as unapproved betting, the government said. A National Monetary Council resolution adopted on 24 April limits derivatives markets to contracts linked to financial or economic indicators under Securities and Exchange Commission supervision.
The prohibition makes clear that Brazil treats the identified prediction-market services as unapproved betting, not permitted derivatives trading.
