Brazil blocks Kalshi and Polymarket prediction-market services

Enforcement & compliance

Brazil’s Ministry of Finance ordered prediction-market platforms, including Kalshi and Polymarket, to suspend operations in the country from April 2026, according to reports. The ministry classified their event contracts as betting and said the platforms had not met requirements that include a R$30m licence payment; Kalshi co-founder Luana Lopes Lara said the company expects to reverse the decision.

Brazil’s order suspends prediction-market services and treats event contracts as betting subject to requirements.
