Anatel blocks about 39,000 sites in Brazil illegal betting action

Enforcement & compliance

Brazil’s Anatel has begun blocking platforms associated with prediction markets under Ministry of Finance guidance, in an action against illegal online betting. Official figures put the number of blocked websites at about 39,000; a technical note says the platforms function like fixed-odds betting, while affected companies describe themselves as intermediaries.

The action puts prediction platforms under Brazil’s fixed-odds betting framework and expands access restrictions.
