ANJL and IBJR ask Brazil’s STF to suspend betting ban pending hearing

Regulation

Brazilian trade groups ANJL and IBJR petitioned Supreme Federal Court minister Luiz Fux to suspend Provisional Measure 1.394/2026 until a further public hearing on the betting market. They alternatively asked for the transition to the ban to begin on 31 December 2026, with authorised companies allowed to operate until then. The petition cites concerns about users shifting to illegal platforms and reports differing estimates of unauthorised domains.

The requested suspension or delay could affect the timing of restrictions on authorised betting operators in Brazil.
