Arnhem mayor withdraws hospitality venue permits after suspected illegal gambling

Enforcement & compliance

Arnhem mayor Ahmed Marcouch withdrew the venue’s operating, alcohol and gaming-machine permits after a late-January raid over suspected illegal gambling. The municipality, police and Kansspelautoriteit found indications of gambling in the venue’s basement; 21 people were detained and large sums of cash were seized during the raid. The operator has six weeks to appeal, Marcouch said.

The decision removes the venue’s permits, while the operator can challenge it within six weeks.
