AGLC bans political-event betting in Alberta’s internet gaming rules

Regulation

Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) updated its internet gaming standards to prohibit wagering on political events, including elections, by-elections and leadership contests. The report says no launch date had been confirmed for Alberta’s regulated market, which was then targeted for around mid-2025.

Prospective operators must exclude political-event wagers from products offered under Alberta’s internet gaming framework.
