Vietnam’s Criminal Investigation Department arrested 19 people in an investigation into an illegal soccer betting operation, which police said had run since December 2024. Investigators linked roughly 30 million betting points to $34.6m in wagers and said the ring had been dismantled.
The arrests show enforcement action against an illegal betting network operating in Vietnam.

Da Nang police dismantled an illegal football betting and lottery network in Vietnam, the report said. Investigators said the suspects’ bets from January 2026 totalled about VND20bn, or approximately €653,000; seven people were questioned and detained for checks. Police seized phones and betting records and are continuing their investigation.

Police in Spain dismantled a criminal network accused of laundering money through fraudulent online betting, reportedly involving at least €4.7 million and identity theft affecting more than 5,000 people across 17 countries. Eleven people were arrested alongside the alleged leader; six remain in pre-trial detention, and the investigation is ongoing.
The Federal District Civil Police launched Operation Resina Oculta on 19 March, targeting a criminal organisation accused of combining drug trafficking with money laundering through shell companies and illegal betting platforms. Officers executed 41 search warrants and nine arrest warrants across the Federal District, Goiás, Maranhão and Amazonas; courts also ordered account blocks for 50 companies, capped at R$15 million each.
