UK study finds 23.8% of gamblers exceeded £150 monthly loss threshold
A study of anonymised UK bank transactions found that 57,592 of 243,478 gamblers exceeded £150 with at least one operator in a calendar month. Researchers said this represented 23.8% of the sample and that the group accounted for about 92% of recorded gambling expenditure; the research modelled the Gambling Commission’s light-touch checks.
The findings quantify how many sampled customers could trigger operators’ per-operator financial risk checks.
