UKGC study finds 91% of detected illegal-gambling users also used licensed operators
The UK Gambling Commission said its financial-transaction study found 3,426 transactions involving suspected illegal operators, linked to 179 people. Of those with repeated detected transactions, 91% also used licensed operators; the Commission cautioned that the dataset was not nationally representative and some transactions may have gone undetected.
The findings inform operators and regulators about how detected illegal gambling activity overlaps with licensed play.
