In brief
- STS Fit says Piedmont's responsible gambling training requirement covers tobacconist owners with cash-win machines on site.
- The course lasts eight hours and must be completed by 31 December 2026 with a valid certificate.
- The obligation applies to the business owner, not to employed staff, according to the note.
Tobacconist owners in Piedmont whose premises have cash-win amusement machines installed are covered by the region's responsible gambling training requirement, STS Fit said in a note. The obligation follows from the regional council resolution that set out how the requirement is applied, according to the note.
The course is titled "Promozione del gioco responsabile: gestione consapevole degli apparecchi automatici di gioco" and runs for a total of eight hours. It must be completed by 31 December 2026, with participants obtaining a valid certificate of attendance and completion.
The requirement applies only to the owner of the business and not to staff employed at the tobacconist, according to the note.
STS Fit said FIT and STS had acted early to identify training provision meeting the Piedmont region's requirements, using accredited training bodies and setting conditions for FIT members. It invited affected members to contact their provincial FIT-STS office for information on accessing the courses, including the conditions reserved for them, rather than waiting until the final days before the deadline.
The note said meeting the 31 December 2026 deadline would both fulfil a requirement set by the rules and support the standing of a category it described as known for professionalism, competence and responsibility.
