Spelinspektionen steps up checks on unlicensed gambling in Sweden in Q2 2026

Enforcement & compliance

Sweden’s Spelinspektionen opened new supervisory proceedings in Q2 2026 against operators suspected of offering games without a Swedish licence. The authority said some operators changed their position during investigations, allowing cases to close without further action. It also identified social media, influencers, advertising and search results as channels used to promote unlicensed gambling.

Operators and advertisers face scrutiny over promotions that direct Swedish consumers to unlicensed gambling services.
