Spain requires gambling operators to match payment accounts to players

Regulation

Spain’s Real Decreto 813/2026 requires online gambling operators to ensure payment methods used for deposits and withdrawals belong to the player, reportedly under a change to anti-money-laundering rules. Existing users have six months to verify ownership; until then, they may deposit and play but cannot withdraw winnings. Operators must terminate accounts that remain unverified and notify the DGOJ.

Operators must update payment verification systems and restrict withdrawals for existing users who have not verified ownership within six months.
