Spain proposes AML rules requiring gambling operators to match payment and account holders
Spain’s government submitted a draft decree for consultation that would tighten anti-money-laundering requirements for gambling operators and other regulated entities, reportedly on 30 July 2026. The proposal would require operators to check that the holder of a payment method used for deposits and withdrawals is also the gambling account holder; it would retain the €2,500 identity-check threshold for lottery prizes.
Operators would need to verify payment-method ownership against gambling account ownership under the proposed rules.
