South Korean police plan fresh crackdown on illegal gambling pubs
South Korea’s National Police Agency said officers will intensify scrutiny of gambling experience pubs from May to August. Police said three crackdowns between 2023 and 2025 led to 6,285 arrests and the seizure of about 24 billion won in suspected gambling funds. The agency said it would avoid indiscriminate action against businesses operating legally.
Operators face heightened enforcement scrutiny, while police say lawful businesses will not be targeted indiscriminately.
