Rome police close private club for 15 days over illegal gaming room

Enforcement & compliance · SectorWire deskSource published 1 min read

Rome's police headquarters, the Questura di Roma, ordered a private club in the city closed for 15 days after an inspection found an unlicensed gaming room and unauthorised sale of food and drink. The measure was taken under article 100 of the consolidated public security law (T.U.L.P.S.), and the premises were sealed.

The operation was carried out jointly by officers of the Polizia di Stato and personnel of the Polizia Locale di Roma Capitale. During the inspection, officers identified 24 people, including four minors. Four adult customers were found with more than 10 grams of hashish and were reported to the judicial authorities, with an administrative report also sent to the Prefettura for drug possession. Checks on police databases found that nine of those identified had previous police records, for offences ranging from drug dealing and personal drug use to offences against the person and property.

The questore cited the violations found, the social dangerousness of the patrons and a previous measure against the venue as grounds for the closure. The source did not state whether the club has appealed or given any response.
