Quebec Liberals propose licensing online gambling platforms

Regulation

Quebec Liberal Party leader Charles Milliard said on 9 September that the party would give the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux responsibility for licensing and overseeing online gambling if elected on 5 October. Parti Québécois leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon also expressed support for a regulated commercial market, while the CAQ remains committed to Loto-Québec’s monopoly.

The parties’ positions could shape whether commercial operators may compete in Quebec’s online gambling market.
