Canadian provinces consider further regulated iGaming expansion
Experts said New Brunswick and Nova Scotia were exploring expansion of regulated online gambling beyond the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, while Quebec could take two to three years to launch a market. Segev LLP founding partner Ron Segev said Alberta’s launch had added momentum to provincial discussions. The Supreme Court of Canada is also due to decide whether Ontario and Alberta may connect player pools with international jurisdictions for peer-to-peer games.
Potential provincial market openings and a court ruling could affect where operators can offer regulated online gambling.
