PT lawmakers propose banning gambling, advertising and related transactions in Brazil

Regulation

Brazil’s Workers’ Party (PT) submitted a bill to the Chamber of Deputies proposing a nationwide ban on gambling, betting advertising and transactions for those services. The proposal also provides for fines and imprisonment, but reportedly faces limited prospects of progress amid election preparations and other legislative priorities. Regulated betting generated almost R$9.95bn in federal tax revenue in 2025, according to the report.

A ban could affect operators’ ability to provide betting services, advertise and process related transactions in Brazil.
