Paf has joined the Finnish Gaming Association, Rahapeliala ry, the company said in a statement. The membership was announced during the Åktoberfest seminar in Helsinki, Finland.

Paf will sit alongside other members of the association, including Veikkaus, the current monopoly. The association's chief executive, Mika Kuismanen, said Paf brought expertise and experience to the body and would help strengthen its advocacy work in Finland.

Sverker Skogberg, Paf's SVP Public Affairs, said the industry needed to communicate common challenges to society with one strong, common voice. He said Paf had a lot to contribute to that process and was convinced the association's work would continue and strengthen as next year's market opening approaches.

According to Kuismanen, Paf was instrumental in shaping the new Gambling Act, and ties between the company and the Finnish Gaming Association were already solid beforehand. He added that closer collaboration is now within reach, and that he believes the parties are stronger together.

Centralised limits and efforts to counter the illegal gambling market were also on the agenda at the seminar. Among those present were the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and KKV Research Director Riku Buri, who made the case that halting the illegal market deserves priority, together with gaming limits binding on every gaming company.

Paf introduced a mandatory loss limit in 2018, which the company said made it the first global company to do so. For individuals aged 25 or older, the limit in 2026 was adjusted to €15,000 per year.

“Paf played a significant role in the preparation of the new Gambling Act, and cooperation with the Finnish Gaming Association has already been good in the past. Now we will be able to work even more closely together. I am convinced that we are stronger together”
