Statements from the operators confirm that both ComeOn and SuomiVeto hold Finnish gambling licences for the competitive online market, which does not begin until 1 July 2027. Until that date, no bets or casino stakes can be taken in Finland by either brand. They are now part of a group of four publicly confirmed licensees, alongside Hippos ATG and Wildz Group, a figure compiled by Gaming Intelligence on Monday.
A statement dated 22 October from ComeOn's owner, Swedish group European Entertainment Group (EEG), said the Finnish National Police Board approved every licence the subsidiary sought, covering online casino as well as sports betting. The applications went in on 2 March 2026, the day the application window opened, according to the group. EEG's other holdings include the supplier Yggdrasil, Highlight Games and the affiliate business Game Lounge, and it plans to share further updates on its Finnish preparations via its regular financial reporting.
SuomiVeto is a fresh brand created for the reopened Finnish market. Its backers are Melvin Bostelaar and Joey Singels, who previously founded the Dutch operator BetCity.nl before that business was sold to Entain. The technology is already arranged: Bragg Gaming supplies the player account platform and casino content, and a long term deal signed in February will see Kambi run a turnkey sportsbook for the Finnish launch.
Chief executive Itai Frieberger described the outcome as "an important milestone" and said the group looks forward "to serving Finnish customers in a fully regulated environment from July 2027." Chief financial officer Raffaele Amodio said: "Finland is a core part of our growth strategy." He tied the licences to the group's "continued commitment to the 100 per cent regulated revenue."
Rather than a published regulator list, the confirmations made public to date have come from the operators themselves, and many more decisions are still pending. Since the window opened in March, dozens of companies have applied, so further announcements are likely in the months before launch. Licensees have until July 2027 to finish technical and compliance work before any customer can be served.
Under the new regime, Veikkaus will no longer hold an exclusive grip on online casino and sports betting. In the run-up to the switch, the incumbent has been getting ready to compete in its core online verticals for the first time, and it has moved its sports betting onto OpenBet's platform.
