New York mobile sports betting wagering fell 2% year on year to $2.44bn in January, according to a report. The decline was the state’s first annual fall in wagering since February 2023.
The reported contraction provides operators and investors with a measure of New York market performance.

New York mobile sports wagering recorded $2.25bn in June, its highest monthly total since launch, according to the report. The figure was 37% higher than in June a year earlier.
New York lawmakers proposed bills A10526 and S10470 to prohibit mobile sports wagers from people located on college campuses. The measures would require operators and platform providers to use geolocation technology, with colleges supplying campus boundary data to the state gaming commission. The bills did not advance to a floor vote in the 2026 regular session and would need to be reintroduced next year unless considered in a special session.
A Federal Reserve Bank of New York study found that counties introducing mobile sports betting saw delinquency rates rise by 0.31 percentage points from a 10.71% baseline. The study estimated a 10% increase among bettors, rising to 26% for those under 40; it also reported increases in nearby counties where betting remained illegal.
Vermont’s sports betting handle fell 1% in September to $19.8m, reportedly. A higher margin supported double-digit revenue growth, according to the report.
Illinois sports wagers fell more than 10% year on year in May to just over $1.1 billion, according to Illinois Gaming Board figures. Adjusted revenue declined almost 2% against May 2025, while sports betting tax revenue rose more than 16% to almost $53 million. DraftKings and FanDuel recorded a combined handle of $722.4 million and adjusted revenue of $82.3 million.
