New York Fed study links mobile sports betting to higher credit delinquency
A Federal Reserve Bank of New York study found that counties introducing mobile sports betting saw delinquency rates rise by 0.31 percentage points from a 10.71% baseline. The study estimated a 10% increase among bettors, rising to 26% for those under 40; it also reported increases in nearby counties where betting remained illegal.
The findings may inform operators and regulators assessing the financial risks associated with mobile sports betting.
