Nevada sportsbooks take $133.8m in Super Bowl wagers as handle falls

Regulation

Nevada’s Gaming Control Board reported that 186 sportsbooks handled $133.8 million in Super Bowl wagers, down from $151.6 million a year earlier and the lowest total in 10 years. Unaudited figures showed sportsbooks won $9.8 million, a 7.4% hold. Sportsbook executives cited prediction markets among several possible factors; Nevada regulators separately sought to stop Coinbase’s prediction-market products, and a federal judge issued a temporary 14-day restraining order.

The figures and pending court actions matter to Nevada sportsbooks competing with prediction-market products.
