Nebraska voters rejected Initiatives 440 and 441 in the midterms, according to reports of the vote. Tax Relief Nebraska estimated the proposals could have generated $238 million in tax relief over 10 years; the initiatives would have allowed 12 mobile sportsbook licences.
Nebraskans chose not to legalize sports betting, defeating Initiative 440 and 441. Residents voted on the question during the midterms.
Tax Relief Nebraska (TRN) campaigned in favour of legalisation. It argued that residents already spend money on offshore gambling websites. According to TRN, 70% of proceeds from a 20% online sports betting tax would have gone to tax relief. TRN estimated the total tax relief at $238 million over 10 years.
Opponents argued that mobile access would increase harm from gambling. The report said in-person venues in the state have generated about $4 million in taxes since they launched.
