The parliamentary process for Italy's 2027 Budget Law is under way in the Chamber of Deputies. The Chamber's Budget Committee is due to start examining the text this week. The examination includes a first check of the bill's provisions and a possible proposal to remove rules unrelated to budget matters.
A meeting of the committee's presidency was scheduled for Wednesday 4 November. That meeting is to define the calendar of sittings and the organisation of the later phases of work. According to a Chamber note, the committee will approve a hearing programme next week and set the deadline for submitting amendments at the same time. Meetings with institutions, economic bodies and representatives of productive sectors are expected to take place roughly between 9 and 12 November.
Particular attention is being paid to provisions affecting public gaming, which include tax and regulatory measures covering entertainment machines and other gaming activities. The parliamentary review is to assess possible changes to the rules proposed by the Government, taking into account points raised in the hearings and the debate between majority and opposition.
After the hearings, the committee will examine amendments and define the text to be put to the Assembly. At the end of November, a conference of parliamentary group leaders will set the calendar for work in the chamber. Initial forecasts place the Chamber vote between 21 and 23 December, before the bill passes to the Senate. The process must conclude by 31 December 2026, the final deadline for approving the Budget Law and avoiding provisional budgeting.
