More than two-thirds voted to rescind the proposal before the 24 November deadline, keeping the prohibition in place across NCAA divisions.

The Casino Association of New Jersey asked the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to prevent federally regulated prediction markets from offering sports-related contracts, arguing they could displace state and tribal gaming authority. Kalshi rejected the association’s characterisation of the sector, while FanDuel sought clarity on the proposed rules and the NFL called for stronger protections for sporting-event integrity.
Three California tribes asked the Ninth Circuit on 10 June to revive their bid to stop Kalshi offering sports-event contracts on their lands while their lawsuit proceeds. Kalshi argues its exchange falls under federal commodities law, while the tribes say the contracts amount to unauthorised sports betting under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act; the appeal challenges a lower court’s denial of an injunction.
New York Senate Bill 10470, filed by Senator Andrew Gounardes and referred to the Racing, Gaming and Wagering Committee, would prohibit mobile sportsbooks from accepting bets placed on college campuses. If enacted, it would take effect immediately, with operators given until 1 August 2027 to install the required geolocation technology.
Robinhood asked a federal judge to stop Massachusetts from enforcing its gaming rules against the company’s sports prediction business. The company argues that the contracts it offers through Kalshi and ForecastEx fall under the CFTC’s exclusive authority; the court reopened its case earlier this month after its expanded ForecastEx partnership.
