NCAA keeps professional sports betting ban for athletes and staff

Regulation

The NCAA kept its ban on athletes and athletic department staff betting on professional sports after Division I members voted down a rule change on Friday. The proposed change had not received support from at least 75% of the Division I cabinet, allowing schools to vote on overturning it; the required opposition threshold was reached before the 30-day voting period ended. The ban also remains in place across Divisions II and III.

The decision preserves betting restrictions that colleges and sports wagering businesses must account for in their policies.
