Mississippi House advances mobile sports betting bill with casino tax cut

Regulation

The Mississippi House approved HB 4074, sponsored by Representative Eure, by 100 votes to 11 on Wednesday, proposing mobile sports betting in the state. The bill would cut the casino tax rate from 8% to 6%, tax mobile betting revenue at 22% and direct $50 million annually to the Public Employees Retirement System for ten years. The proposal now faces debate in the Senate, where Senator David Blount opposes mobile wagering.

Operators would gain access to mobile betting, while the bill would also change casino taxes and state revenue allocations.
