Minnesota senators introduce bills targeting sweepstakes casinos and prediction markets

Regulation

Minnesota senators introduced SF 4474 and SF 4511 on 16 March, proposing a ban on dual-currency online sweepstakes games and felony penalties for operating or advertising certain event-based prediction markets. The bills name sports, elections, government actions, catastrophes and deaths among the outcomes covered; the report identifies Jordan Rasmusson and John Marty as their respective sponsors.

If enacted, the proposals could restrict operators and service providers supporting sweepstakes games or specified prediction markets in Minnesota.
