US senators introduce bill to bar officials from profiting on prediction markets
US senators Elissa Slotkin, Todd Young, Adam Schiff and John Curtis introduced the Public Integrity in Financial Prediction Markets Act of 2026, which would prohibit elected federal officials, political appointees and government employees from trading on prediction markets using material non-public information. The proposal authorises fines of $500 or twice the profit, whichever is greater, and requires reports for transactions exceeding $250 within 30 days.
The proposal would impose trading restrictions and disclosure duties on public officials using prediction markets.
