Meta removes Dutch ads promoting unlicensed casinos to Cruks registrants

Enforcement & compliance

Meta removed numerous advertisements and blocked two Facebook accounts after an investigation reportedly found that ads promoted unlicensed online casinos to people listed in the Netherlands’ Cruks self-exclusion register. Meta said advertisements on its platforms must comply with applicable laws and regulations; the investigation reported that about 100,000 people were on Cruks at the start of 2026.

The investigation highlights risks when ads for unlicensed casinos reach people listed in the Dutch self-exclusion register.
