In brief
- A report says a Betano-branded clone, Betamos, was promoted through paid Instagram adverts in Brazil.
- The Pix recipient was Vem Comprar Comércio Brasil Ltda, with an account at Kikai SCD S.A.
A report published in Brazil says a site called Betamos copied the visual identity of Betano and was reached through paid Instagram adverts. According to the report, Instagram was still showing paid adverts for platforms presenting themselves as Betano three days after the authorisations of betting operators lapsed on 25 October under MP 1.394/2026. The report says that under the MP no operator can currently offer fixed-odds betting in Brazil, and that any offer under the brand is therefore illegal.
The reporters said the adverts were paid for and approved in Meta's advertising system. Clicking an advert led to a page that imitated Apple's app store, the report says. The report gives the page address as bfd.mastergamarus.com. It says the page tells users to install a shortcut that works like an app without going through any official store, and so without review. The report describes the bonus offered as a practice barred by Brazilian regulation while it was in force.
The reporters registered on Betamos and simulated a deposit of R$ 20,00. The platform produced a Pix that stayed valid for an hour. According to the report, the Pix code pointed to a server that generates the charge. Pasting the code into the banking app showed the recipient as Vem Comprar Comércio Brasil Ltda, with an account at Kikai SCD S.A. The reporters did not confirm the payment and halted the operation.
According to the report, the name of the recipient has nothing to do with betting. Until 25 October, the report says, the rule was that a bettor could only deposit into an account held by the authorised operator itself. The Banco Central has authorised Kikai to operate as a Sociedade de Crédito Direto, the report states. The outlet reports that it found no public record of Vem Comprar Comércio Brasil Ltda. It plans to ask Kikai and the Banco Central who holds the account and whether the client's activity was checked.
