The Massachusetts Gaming Commission released initial data from the Healthy Minds Study on 8 May 2026. The study collected data during academic year 2024–25 from students at eight Massachusetts schools, according to the commission.

It sets out either immediate restrictions—including a credit-card ban and limits on promotions—or further research using anonymised player data before targeted reforms. The report says faster changes could reduce industry revenue.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission released a study on 2 June 2026 measuring responsible-gambling beliefs and behaviours among Massachusetts residents who had used online sports wagering or physical casinos in the previous six months. Most respondents reported taking ownership of their gambling, being honest about it and feeling in control, while pre-commitment results were mixed and gambling literacy scored lowest. The commission said the survey reflected highly engaged gamblers, not the general player population.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is due to hear why Fanatics Betting and Gaming did not notify 132 patrons when it limited their wagering, reportedly. The alleged failures occurred between 29 July and 7 September, after a rule took effect requiring personalised explanations within 48 hours. The commission is also to hear about alleged proxy betting involving Bill Simmons and FanDuel; the investigation remains ongoing.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission says its funding includes an annual fee of $600 per slot machine, alongside assessments and fees charged to licensees and applicants. The commission states that it receives no taxpayer money or state appropriations; its budget and receipts are updated monthly, with the page last updated 28 October 2026.
Slot machine operators pay an annual fee that funds the Gaming Commission, and the Gaming Act sets that fee at $600 per slot. Licensees and applicants also owe the commission further assessments and fees. According to the commission, tax-payer monies and state appropriations do not fund it.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is seeking public feedback on draft FY2028 Community Mitigation Fund guidelines. It says the draft includes proposed clarifications and changes, and comments are due by 5pm on 23 October 2026 before the Commission reviews them ahead of finalising the guidelines.
