Massachusetts Gaming Commission-funded study finds sports betting risks among young adults
A NORC study funded by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission examined sports betting among people aged 18 to 25 in Massachusetts. The researchers reported that 71% of interviewees had bet on sports, while 44% said they had bet at ages 18 to 20, below the state’s legal gambling age of 21. Participants often viewed betting as manageable and themselves as relatively protected from its risks.
The findings give Massachusetts regulators evidence on betting behaviour and perceived risks among young adults.
