AGA study finds higher financial literacy scores among US gamblers

Regulation

Research commissioned by the American Gaming Association (AGA), published on 25 September 2026, found that US gamblers averaged 3.93 out of five on a financial-literacy index, compared with 3.72 for non-gamblers. The AGA said the difference was statistically significant; it also reported that 41% of gamblers, versus 27% of non-gamblers, had high financial literacy. The study said prediction-market users’ maths-test results were closer to those of non-gamblers than their self-assessed confidence suggested.

The findings inform operators’ consumer-protection work around financial literacy and how prediction markets are presented.
