Lula weighs provisional measure to ban online casinos in Brazil
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is reportedly considering a provisional measure to ban online casino games in Brazil. Gaming lawyer Neil Montgomery warned that the proposal could disrupt the sector; sports betting and sponsorship deals would be exempt. The measure would last 60 days, with a possible 60-day extension, and would require Congress’s approval.
A ban could halt operators’ activity and revenue during the measure’s term, while leaving sports betting unaffected.
