Deals & M&A1 min read

Lottomatica reported a 3% rise in adjusted operating profit for the third quarter of 2026, with revenue up 5% to €537 million and adjusted EBITDA of €200 million. The company maintained its 2026 guidance and said it expected adjusted operating profit at the upper end of its €940 million to €980 million range; nine-month betting turnover rose 8% to €35 billion.

Lottomatica closed the third quarter of 2026 with 3% growth in adjusted operating profit. Double-digit growth in sports betting and in the online business drove the result.

The Italian company recorded quarterly revenue of €537m, up 5%. Revenue was slightly above forecasts of €534.8m. Adjusted EBITDA reached €200m. That figure was practically in line with the analyst consensus estimates provided by the company itself.

Lottomatica kept its guidance for 2026 and placed its adjusted operating profit target at the upper end of a range of €940m to €980m.

In the first nine months of 2026, the total amount of bets handled by Lottomatica rose 8% to €35bn. Within that, online betting grew 12%, while betting through its sports franchise network rose 11%.

Chief executive Guglielmo Angelozzi pointed to the group's confidence in its growth outlook, citing favourable market dynamics, execution of its strategy and cash flow generation.

These are Lottomatica's first results since it proposed an integration with Spain's Cirsa last September, in a transaction valued at €2.8bn. Cirsa has called an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders for 30 November, at which the merger will be put to a vote.

Codere’s controlling investment funds are considering a sale of the company or its businesses separately, according to media reports. The report says a whole-company sale remains the preferred option, while interest in individual divisions has increased; a possible combined valuation is around €2,000 million.

The investment funds that control Codere are reportedly studying alternatives for selling the group. Finding a buyer for the whole company reportedly remains the priority. Selling the businesses separately is reportedly gaining weight because of interest in some of the divisions.
