Liquor & Gaming NSW says venues in New South Wales need a hotel or club licence to have gaming machines. Manufacturers, sellers, service providers and testers also require a gaming-related licence, and possessing a machine without authorisation is against the law.
The requirements define which licences operators and suppliers need to possess, manage or service gaming machines in NSW.

Ontario’s Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) requires people and businesses participating in thoroughbred racing to hold licences. Since 2 March 2020, horse-racing licence applications and other transactions have been handled online through iAGCO, and paper applications are not accepted.
Greece’s Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC) says it is responsible for issuing operating licences for electronic technical entertainment games with gaming machines. Its page states that the 2014 decision sets out application procedures, required documents and administrative sanctions; non-profit legal entities cannot receive these licences.
A dossier on a draft legislative decree outlines provisions for entertainment taxes in Italy, including automated checks by the Customs and Monopolies Agency on payments relating to lawful gaming machines. Amounts found due would be entered directly for collection, according to the dossier.

Liquor & Gaming NSW reminded licensed betting service providers in New South Wales on 29 October to comply with statutory notices and restrictions on gambling inducements. The regulator said it is considering enforcement, including possible prosecution, against a large provider over repeated inducement advertising; corporate breaches can carry a maximum of 1,000 penalty units.
An industry alert dated 29 October 2026 carries a reminder from Liquor & Gaming NSW to every licensed betting service provider in New South Wales about section 33H of the Betting and Racing Act 1998. The notice addresses two areas: statutory notices and restrictions on gambling inducements. It was prompted by worries about how providers are meeting both sets of requirements.
