KSA warns about boundary between World Cup prediction pools and gambling

Regulation

The Dutch Kansspelautoriteit raised concern about the distinction between informal World Cup prediction pools and gambling, saying betting increases during the tournament, including among people aged 18 to 24. Scorito founder Martijn van Dijk said the platform offers no cash prizes; the company previously held a gambling licence for its Scori PRO real-money fantasy sports product, which stopped in July 2025.

The regulator’s warning may affect how operators and prediction platforms assess World Cup pools and betting activity.
